Configure Microsoft Outlook Email Program

Our coding puts more money in your pocketLA Servers provides information on how to configure Microsoft Outlook® as a courtesy. Use the following tutorial to set up an e-mail account in Microsoft Outlook. These settings are similar in all versions of Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express.

» "What is my domain name for Microsoft Outlook?"
« YourDomain.com
(substitute YOUR actual domain name for "YourDomain.com")
Use it in your incoming and outgoing mail server settings below.

NOTE: LA Servers is not responsible for the reliability, or lack thereof of Microsoft Outlook. We do not directly support or troubleshoot PC programs including Outlook.

Thunderbird is a much better Email program and it's free.

Before calling LA Servers regarding your domain name Email not working with Outlook, click here.

Microsoft Outlook Settings

Select Tools from the E-mail Accounts menu.

Outlook 1

On the E-mail Accounts window, select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

Outlook 2

Select POP3 or IMAP, and then click Next.

Outlook 3

On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3/IMAP) window, enter your information:

  1. Your Name
Your name, company name, or whatever you want to be shown in the From field.
  2. E-mail Address
    Your email address.
  3. User Name
    Your email address.
  4. Password
    Your email account password.
  5. Incoming mail server (POP3)
    POP; mail.yourdomain.com or IMAP; imap.yourdomain.com
(Substitute your domain name for yourdomain.com)
  6. Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
mail.yourdomain.com (Substitute your domain name for yourdomain.com)

Then click More Settings.
Outlook 4

On the Internet E-mail Settings window, click Outgoing Server.

  1. Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  2. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Click OK.
Outlook 5

You shouldn't need to change ports. If you want to leave mail on the server, click "Leave a copy of messages on the server", click "Remove from the server" and select how many days.

NOTE: leaving mail on the server may put your email account over quota and emails will bounce.

Click OK.

Outlook 6

Click OK.

Outlook 7

Click Finish.

Before calling LA Servers regarding your domain name Email not working with Outlook

Check your domain name Email account using Webmail.

If you can send and receive Email on the server using Webmail but Outlook won't check or send your Email for this account, the problem is with Outlook, not with LA Servers.

Make sure you don't already have an Email queued up to send as your new settings won't affect an already queued Email.

If you're sure you have all your Email settings correct and Outlook still doesn't work, try deleting the Email account in Outlook and adding it again. Also, changing the outgoing server port from 25 to 587 should work if you're having a problem sending Email in Outlook.

2. LA Servers is not responsible for the reliability, or lack thereof of Microsoft Outlook.

3. If you followed the previous instructions and still can't get Outlook to work, call a local computer tech to help you configure it. We have many clients sucessfully using Outlook but it is often troublesome to get working. Thus this Outlook tutorial.
